Tetra Pak India Unveils Four Beverage Trends Set to Shape the Industry at Drinktec 2026

Tetra Pak India will showcase four consumer trends shaping the beverage industry at Drinktec India 2026 in Mumbai, highlighting wellness, convenience, value and indulgence alongside processing, packaging and commercialisation solutions.

Tetra Pak India is highlighting four emerging consumer shifts that could shape the next generation of beverages, with wellness, convenience, value and new drinking experiences at the centre of its showcase at Drinktec India 2026. The company will demonstrate how beverage brands can translate changing consumer preferences into commercially viable products through innovative concepts, processing technologies, packaging formats and manufacturing support.

Under the theme “Your next beverage idea starts here,” Tetra Pak will showcase the complete product innovation journey, demonstrating how emerging consumer needs can be translated into formulations, tested and refined, produced efficiently, matched with suitable packaging and brought to market through an appropriate manufacturing ecosystem.

The four consumer shifts redefining beverage opportunities are the wellness wave, convenience unlocked, the pursuit of value, and the search for new experiences and indulgence.

The wellness wave reflects growing demand for beverages with no added sugar, reduced sugar or no sugar, alongside products containing protein, fibre for digestion and gut health, and ingredients associated with antioxidant and immunity benefits.

Convenience unlocked is driven by consumers seeking beverages that fit on-the-go occasions and are readily accessible through e-commerce and delivery platforms. This trend is creating opportunities for meal-replacement smoothies, functional shots, recloseable packs, ready-to-drink formats in categories such as electrolytes and specialised nutrition, and products offering longer shelf life without added preservatives.

The pursuit of value is creating opportunities across both accessible and premium market segments. Smaller packs at accessible price points can lower entry barriers, while multipacks and bulk purchases can support affordability. At the premium end, attributes such as no added sugar, alternative sweetening, longer shelf life and stronger sustainability storytelling can help justify higher price points.

The search for new experiences and indulgence is driving innovation in flavour, texture and consumer interaction. Opportunities include new fruit and regional flavour cues, beverage blends, particulates and pulp, mocktail-inspired recipes, and QR-led digital engagement designed to add discovery to the drinking experience.

The direction of customer trials and queries at Tetra Pak’s Product Development Centre in Chakan, Pune, reflects the convergence of these consumer trends. At Drinktec India 2026, visitors will be able to experience and sample beverage concepts across high-protein, advanced hydration, low-sugar, plant-based and lactose-free categories.

Alongside beverage innovation, Tetra Pak will demonstrate processing technologies designed to help producers improve operational efficiency, optimise ingredient and resource use, reduce waste and lower total cost of ownership while supporting sustainability ambitions.

The technologies on display will include In-line Blending, designed to optimise ingredient usage and blending efficiency while helping reduce total cost of ownership; Sustainable Juice Production, demonstrating opportunities to improve resource efficiency while maintaining product quality; Horizontal Filter, designed to support consistent product quality, process performance and operational reliability; and Reverse Osmosis Technology, which can help reduce water consumption and improve utility efficiency across beverage operations.

Packaging will also feature prominently in the showcase, with Tetra Pak demonstrating how pack formats can be selected to suit different products, consumption occasions, price points and routes to market.

The company will present Tetra Prisma® Aseptic Edge formats ranging from 200 ml to 1000 ml, highlighting packaging options designed to meet different beverage requirements and consumer preferences.

Beyond product development and processing, Tetra Pak will showcase its co-packing network and the support it provides to customers in identifying suitable manufacturing partners based on product requirements, capabilities and market needs.

The network is designed to help emerging and established brands access the appropriate manufacturing ecosystem and accelerate their speed to market without building production capabilities from the ground up.

Tetra Pak will be exhibiting at Booth D056, Hall No. 4, at Drinktec India 2026, scheduled to take place from 28–30 October 2026 at the Mumbai Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

The showcase brings together consumer trends, product development, processing, packaging and commercialisation support, highlighting how beverage brands can respond to evolving consumer needs while developing products for different market segments and consumption occasions.
